1. If you have a screen that is fading, don't wait until it goes completely blank. The cost of repairing a "blank" EL display dramatically increases. Now, we do understand that you will have a sudden urge to turn pots on the screen's board but we strongly advise against this because there are very sensitive adjustable transformers on the board and they should not be touched. Also they only turn one revolution and many screens we have received have had the ferrite broken by the customer trying to turn more than one revolution.

2. If you have a dead screen send it to Capetronics for repair and we will give you a free quote and fast lead time. Lead time can be from a few hours to about 72 hours depending on the extent of the damaged caused.

3. If you have a flickering screen with lines- disable and disconnect it as fast as you can. Send it to Capetronics Inc for evaluation. Those flickering lines and even bright lines indicate a shot between the positive and negative rails.

4. We do not enjoy receiving a screen that has been "technicianized" . I am not sure that there is such a word but you get the idea. For some reason these EL screens are twice as hard to repair and cost the customer.

5. If the glass part of your display is cracked we cant do much for you except maybe purchase your electronics. Also if the burn in is so bad that you can see an image while the screen is not powered up there is not much we can do for that either.

6. If you have missing pixels scattered across certain parts of the display in clusters this usally means the glass substrate is damaged and will have to be replaced with a used screen or a new retro fit.

7. Please don't forget to leave a call back number, your name and company name when you email the Service Department . Use our RMA Form.

8. Remember to pack your screen securely and if your budget allows- DOUBLE BOX! Believe it or not but we have received screen that were packed in an envelope and these came from overseas countries.

9. We accept American Express, MasterCard, Visa, Company Check, Paypal, Money Order or Wire Transfer. Customers outside the USA only have the choice of a Bank Wire Transfer with a bank fee of $25.00.

10. Lastly if we can't repair your screen there is no charge to you except your shipping costs. Of course we try to repair every screen we receive but our success rate is 95%.

Digital Hour Meter - Capetronics Predictive & Preventive Maintenance Program for your NEW EL Display.

We have a few different options for the C640U32 and C640U34 that replaces the old sharp EL displays LJ series. Above you will see a digital hour meter. This hour meter is an indication of the run time of your NEW EL display. We have a Predictive and Preventive Maintenance Program that will refurbish your display at 10 000 hours. There are more critical time schedules too. We have a 2000 hours program that we recommend. Basically Capetronics Inc will replace all time and heat sensitive components on your display. Once the display has reached its scheduled operating hours it can be sent back to Capetronics Inc for refurbishment. We will send you a loaner screen so that you don't have any or very little production down time.

External Screen Brightness & Screen saver switch.

We have been in the business for many years repairing these EL displays and we know why and how they get damaged. One reason is that OEM designers did not use a Screen Saver option when designing a specific controller for a machine. In other words, the display is constantly in the "on" state. We don't blame them however we have come up with a solution; an external switch that the customer can install and place in the front of the operator panel. When you are done programming new parameters, simply flip the switch and place the display in the screen saver state. You will dramatically increase the life of the display.  We have also added a screen brightness feature. This is also an option.

Cooling Fan Feature.

We have another option that will also help with longevity. Cooling of the electronics. If you are in an extreme environment this can be a wise option to purchase. this will not affect your current consumption as our screens draw far less than the older Sharp LJ series panels.

We use state of the art electronic test equipment for your repairs. We also document and store all data captured. Depending on time constraints we will all record test data. More time than not the EL display repairs are urgent and we do not have the luxury of time. We use Tektronix, HP, Fluke, Sencore, ABI, Huntron, Lixi and Data I/O Unisite. 

We use signature analysis which is a non destructive means of troubleshooting and we are will to help anyone that is interested in finding out how this technology works including what test equipment to purchase to help you get started with V/I signature analysis. We have found it to be a very powerful form of documenting a working display or PCB and using it to compare against a faulty display or PCB. There have been times when a simple test with a Fluke meter has not picked up a faulty component and in fact it gave us feedback that there was no problem. Of course using V/I analysis we find this not to be the case and we found a faulty FET.
